First Vice-President of the International Choreography Union

Graduated with honors from the Moscow State Conservatory (1964) and the post-graduate course (1969). Upon finishing studies was engaged in performing and teaching activity.

From 1971 until 1976 worked at the National Institute of Music in Algiers. Upon returning back to Moscow was engaged in preparation of the Culture program for the XXII Olympic Games- 1980 , was the Dy- General Director of the Central Board for Culture Program “Olympic-80” of the  USSR Ministry of Culture. Was decorated with “For Labor Valour” Medal and Badge of Honor of the Organizing Committee for Olympic Games for his activity in arranging culture program.

From 1981 until 1987 headed the Department for All-Union and International Competitions of Gosconcert USSR.

In 1987 was invited to join the All-Union Music Society as Vice-President of the Central Board. Later the Society was converted into the International Music Union. There he worked as First Vice-President until 1997.

In 1996 founded the Russian Society for Managing Performer’s Rights and was its President until 1999. From 1998 until 2002 was the Director of the Central Special Music School of the Moscow Conservatory.

In 1998 Sergey Usanov was elected First Vice-President of the International Choreography Union.

From 1981 is engaged in preparatory work and carrying out the International Ballet Competition and Contest of Choreographers in Moscow.

Was Jury-member of many International and National Ballet and Music Competitions in USSR, Russia and abroad.

Was awarded the title «Honored Artist of Russia» (1996) and title “Honored Artist of Poland” (1999).
