In Sochi on 24th June, 2016, as part of the “Yuri Grigorovich Black Sea Assemblies” the IX General Assembly of the International Federation of Ballet Competitions took place to complete the elections of the governing board of the Federation and discuss vital questions.
Representatives of international ballet competitions from around the world reported on the progress of the current year’s promoting, preparation and holding of their contests, analyzed the dynamics of its development and outlined the problems encountered in this or that country in regard to preparation of a ballet competition. Such questions as of cooperation between competitions, matching competitive schedule dates, the principles of formation of the jury, the percentage of representation in the jury panel members of the host country and other countries, admission criteria for new members of the Federation (competitions and festivals) were discussed by IFBC members. The ceremony of admission of new candidates followed. Among potential members of IFBC – International Mahmud Esembayev Festival-Competition of Solo Dance (Grozny), Open All Russian Ballet Festival in Saha (Yakutsk), Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition (New York). At the end of the first day of the General Assembly there was election of the governing bodies of IFBC for the next 4 years. As a result People’s Artist of the USSR Yury Grigorovich was elected to be the Federation President(unanimously), the Director General – Honoured Artist of Russia Sergey Usanov (unanimously), Vice-Presidents: Dimitar Dimitrov (Bulgaria, Varna) and People’s Artist of Ukraine Vadim Pisarev (Ukraine, Donetsk People’s Republic).
The next day, June 25th , members of IFBC, Jury panel of Sochi IBC, ballet experts and media representatives participated in the Round table on the problems of repertoire policy in competitive programs. There were also discussed demands of precise performing of choreographic text by the participants, promotion of new names of the laureates and their involvement in the festival programs and theatrical performances.
